THARPARKAR: An Non-profit organization (NGO) on Saturday revealed that more than 30 schools were non-functional with no regularization of teachers in Thar’s Bolhari area.
Earlier, a Hathrai villager, Suresh Kumar reached out to the NGO to raise alarm over ghost schools, that are non-functional due to non-availability of teachers.
The NGO working for the reformation of Education in Thar, conducted a survey and observed that more than 30 schools in Bolhari were not functioning.
Another NGO, Civil Society Support Program (CSSP) is working in Tharparkar with the support of British Council to ensure that children aged 6 to 11 years can be enrolled in schools with the support of their community, Education Department and volunteers in their respective union councils.
CSSP aims to enroll 1750 out of school children and retain the already 2000 children enrolled in schools in Bolhari, Dabhro, Jhimaryoo and Kheetlari union councils.
Project Coordinator Saarang Mathrani met with the District Education Officer Habibullah Kunbhar and chief monitoring officer Samiullah Sanjrani to discuss the education related issues.
The officials ensured that the non-functional school due to the non-availability of teachers will be monitored at the earliest and will be made functional by August 2018.
