LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday announced that DNA of a suspect has matched the sample collected from Mardan rape and murder victim, Asma8217;s body.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government had earlier sent 145 DNA samples of suspects to Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
Speaking to a press conference, Sanaullah said that DNA sample taken from a suspect, whose name has not been revealed for security reasons, has matched the sample collected from the minor8217;s body.
The Punjab government has also communicated with KP government on the matter, said Sanaullah.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Nisar took notice of Mardan rape and murder of a 3-year-old minor last month. He also criticised KP Police for ‘incompetence’ during the case hearing.
The minor8217;s dead body was found in the nearby fields of her residence on January 14 in Mardan. Investigations revealed that the minor was raped and before being strangled to death.
