ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) will on Thursday announce verdict in Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif disqualification case.
The verdict was reserved earlier this month on April 11 by a three-member bench headed by Justice Athar Minallah hearing a petition filed by PTI member Usmar Dar against Khawaja Asif.
During the April 11 hearing, the court inquired that how a person doing full-time job could run the ministry in Pakistan. To this, counsel for Asif said that his client was doing a job in Dubai-based bank before elections.
“A person has been barred from practicing law in Pakistan. How he is performing employment abroad,” asked Justice Amir Farooq. Upon this, counsel for the interior minister said that his client was acting merely as an adviser.
On the other hand, Usman Dar’s lawyer told the court that Asif’s income stood at Rs340 million per year from the aforementioned employment. He asserted that a person who was performing job abroad couldn’t be loyal to his country.
Later, the IHC reserved the verdict and adjourned the hearing.
