The first women contingent of Swat police passed out and completed its heavy weapon course at Kanjo Police Line in Swat. The women contingent that comprised of seventy-five police personnel in Swat were also given course completion certificates by the District Police Officer (DPO), Dilawar Bangash, for mastering their skills at SMG, MG, Snipers, and other light weaponry. Addressing the passing out women contingent of the police force at the concluding ceremony at Kanjo Police Line, the DPO said, the training was aimed at allowing the women police to join hands with their male counterparts and thwart any untoward incident and designs by the miscreants. “Swat had been badly devastated by the rise of militancy in the past,” the DPO said, adding that the women police force had also played their crucial role in the days of mayhem in Swat,” the women joined hands with their male counter-parts in Swat and rendered sacrifices aimed at restoring peace and tranquility to the district,” Bangash said, hailing that allowing women police to master their skill at modern-day weaponry had been indispensable from the very first day need that was finally fulfilled. Zahid Khan, a peace activist, also addressed the participants and said, women police had been in dire need of making their skills master at the modern-day weapons and thanks to the Swat police high-ups for getting them trained. ” it is a step worth appreciation by the district police officials.” Zahid Khan hailed. Shehnaz Begum, a woman police constable, said while receiving her certificate that she was happy to get trained and was desperate to make good use of her training skills in cutting the evils from the bud. Shehnaz said she joined the Swat Police in the days of mayhem in 2008 when the police force was being attacked by the fighters of Tehrek e Taliban (TTP). ” I joined the police force in a time when the male police officials had been resigning and no one was coming to fill their vacant position in the department,” Shehnaz reminds, she added now she was happy and had firm resolve to carry out her duties with power and zeal.
